October 14, 2013 Email

¡Hola!
So I am in Chile, it is so weird but amazing but crazy all at the same time. (with some oddness and sarcasm to flavor. And yes I can't spell, but if you are still reading then I guess its ok.) "He's scary, but nice. Like Santa" (despicable me).

Chile is different but similar to many places I have been before. I was so excited when flying in and seeing todas las montañas (mountains) (the first picture is las montañas de el avion) (the mountains of the plane), in Mexico they did not have montañas (mountains). From the airport to the mission home was about an hour drive, it was cool though and Chile reminds me a lot of España y (Spain and...) California. We had a big meeting there first private interviews con Presidente Warne despues almuerzo (mejor parte, nosotros teniamos Hamburguesas) y (with President Warne after lunch (the best part was that we had hamburgers)) a big meeting with everyone where I played el (the) piano! I was very scared to play but had told Pres. Warne that I would try. My only problems with trying are these, Primero (first)-I don't want people to hate me because I can't play los himnos muy bien (the hymns very well). Segundo- (second) they only have electric pianos here. I have this weird....lets call it...dis-approval, yes that sounds good-for electric pianos. They never sound the same as really pianos no matter how many buttons you can press. But that is a personal preference. But all is well, either way I don't sound very good when I try and play himnos (hymns). Anyway, "CLEAN CUP, CLEAN CUP! MOVE DOWN, MOVE DOWN!" (Alice in Wonderland)La gente de Chile son muy amigable (The people of Chile are very friendly), for the most part. Some people when they see misioneros (missionaries) start running in the other direction. But since we got here we have found 8 nuevos investigadores (new investigators)! Speaking of lugares (places), I should probably tell you where I am.

So first off mi compañera es Hermana (my companion is...)Holly Welch (now you can facebgook stalk her Kaytlyn). Ella es de (she is from) Highland, Utah. Y ella es muy simpatica (And she is very sympathetic and nice). I am her first non-native compañera (Companion) which is different for her, and thus is a little harder for her to speak just in español porque ella sabe que yo puedo entender ingles (Spanish because she knows that I understand English). Entonces es dificil por nosotros para siempre hablamos en español (So it is hard for us to always speak in Spanish). Pero (but), we are trying. My first area is in the northern part of my mission. En una cuidad se llama Buin (In a city called Buin). En (in) Buin, just about everyone has un perro (A dog). Algunos son simpatico, pero muchos son malo, y todos los perros tienen fleas, rabies y mange Some are sympathetic, but many are bad, and all dogs have fleas, rabies and mange).(I don't know how to spell that word, where they have like a rash and their hair falls out, that's pretty much how todos los perros son (all of the dogs are)).

Well I only have a few minutes left so I will share with you my really cool experience from last night.

We found a women named Valeria, she has two little kids who are very cute. When we knocked on her door (well actually en Chile you don't knock, but have to stand outside the gate y dice ¡Alo! (and say Hello!))but she had talked to missionaries before and was willing to let us in. We found out that she had been praying for help for someone to tell her it was going to be ok and she needed a hug. And we were there for her, it was a wonderful hour that we spent with her. And mi compañera y yo sabemos sin duda que (my companion and I know without a doubt) she was someone that we had told in heaven we would come and find her and teach her the gospel. We are very excited for the chance.

I still have so much to say but no time to say it. I am sorry I will try and tell more next week. In the mean time, make sure that your insanity is higher than your sanity, it is very important for you health. And smile.

¡Les Quiero! (I love you...basically)

Hermana Monsivais

P.S. Packages take 2 weeks to send. I will try and send my broken glasses back but it won't be probably until I am next in Rancagua. My body is not doing so well, my cough came back and I think its bronchitis.
Please pray for my health, I love you!
